Oil Changes Every 3,000 Miles is a Thing of the Past

If you drive your vehicle a lot you have probably asked yourself at least once if you really have to change your oil every 3,000 miles. This is a very legitimate question to have. In fact, if you are changing your oil this often chances are you're changing your oil too often. This is especially true if you are driving a car built in the last 2 decades.

Vehicles built in the last 20 years have much more advanced motors in comparison to cars built prior to that. This in combination with the advancements we have seen with oil chemistry allows for longer intervals between routine oil changes.

Today the standard oil change is between 5,000 and 10,000 miles. Oil changes, however, could be required more often if you drive in severe conditions. Severe conditions include but are not limited to towing heavy loads long distances, excessive stop and go driving, idling, extreme temperatures or frequent trips short distances.

If you are uncertain when you should change the oil in your vehicle contact our team at Hansel Ford and one of our professional staff members will be happy to assist!
